CEROVSKI -- John S. Cerovski, 82, a resident of Albuquerque for 10 years, died Monday, January 24, 2005. John is survived by one sister, Ann Yates of Albuquerque; niece, Jean King and husband, Paul of Albuquerque; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ignatius and Mary Cerovski; two sisters, Catherine Levi and Mary Pelnar; and two brothers, Edward and Joseph Cerovski. John was born in Omaha, NE and graduated from the University of Nebraska following three years of service in the United States Army where he served in the Phillipines and Japan during WWII. He went on to take his M.A. and Ph.D. at Northwestern University, specializing in literature of the English Renaissance. He authored 'Fragmenta Regalia or Observations on Queen Elizabeth, Her Times & Favorites' as his dissertation. From 1962, he taught at North Central College in Naperville, IL where he was Professor of English and served as chairman of both the Department of English and the Division of Language and Literature. His interests included Shakespeare, modern drama, and film. He was presented the Burlington Northern Faculty Achievement Award For Excellance in Education in 1985. During the summer months, John was a regular "reader" at the British Library in London. He retired in 1988 as Professor Emeritus. John enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, the opera and spending time with his family. He was a beloved brother and uncle and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Graveside Service will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Thursday, January 27, 2005, 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled and Paralyzed Vets of NM, P.O.
