OLSON -- Rosemary Emily Van Gorden Olson, born April 5, 1925, passed from this life on to the next on December 7, 2004. She was born and raised in Emmetsburg, Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa, as well as the University of Minnesota. She received a war time degree in electrical engineering and worked on the Manhattan Project in New York City prior to working on the initial jet aircraft at Wright-Patterson Air Base in Dayton, Ohio. She married her high school sweetheart, Tom O. Olson, in 1946, and voluntarily sacrificed her personal career to serve as wife, mother, and keeper of the household for her family. She is survived by her husband and three children, Thomas W. Olson and wife, Bonnie, of Santa Fe, Kristine Falde of Thousand Oaks, CA and Sigrid Olson and friend, Chris Wood, of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Brendan Falde, Megan Falde Adams and husband, Brendan Adams, Nels Olson, Kari Olson and Thomas M. Olson; one great-grandchild, Garret Q. Adams; and a sister, Alice Mehling, of New York City. For many years Rosemary was active in volunteer work, including alter guild and related work with St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church, Democratic Party activities, and the numerous and sundry affairs attendant to rearing three children. She was a talented bridge player and enjoyed playing with many friends over the years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, including the wonderful caregivers at Lily Gardens and Haven Care Birch House who assisted the family over the last year. A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rosemary's memory to either the Alzheimer's Association, New Mexico Chapter, at 9500 Montgomery NE, Suite 209, Albuquerque 87111 or Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless, P.O.
