OLIVAS -- Ron T. Olivas, 57, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at his home in Dallas, TX. Ron was born on Monday, August 4, 1947 in Albuquerque, NM. Ron died after a battle with liver and pancreatic cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother. He is survived by his life partner and loving companion, Tim Galipp, a sister and a nephew. Ron is a war veteran who served his country as a member of the prestigious Green Berets in the Vietnam War. After leaving the military, he moved to Brussels, where he worked with the United Press Service. He traveled throughout Europe and Africa. He then returned to Albuquerque, where he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for many years. He then moved to Dallas, working for Compaq and IBM Corporation. Ron will be missed by his life partner, Tim Galipp, who took care of him, loved him, and never left his side during his long illness. Thanks to his very special friends who helped Tim during this very difficult time and were with Ron in Dallas during his last months - Olivia Kell, Lillian Trujillo, Kathy Pennell, Margaret Cata and Vicki Blocker; they were there for Ron when he needed them the most. He also had many, many friends in Dallas who were there at his time of need. Special thanks to his co-workers at IBM for all their support and love, and the hospice nurses who are true angels on earth. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Interment will take place Friday, at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
