GARCIA -- Ronald Patrick William Garcia, 59, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 36 years, Pam Garcia; sons, Ron and Rex who moved back into the family home to help care for their father; granddaughter, Samantha Ann; brother, John A. Garcia II and wife, Jean; nephew, Bryce and niece, Brianna, also of Albuquerque; niece, Pam Garcia and her daughter, Samantha of Denver, CO; nephew, John A. Garcia, III and wife, Madelyn, their children, Noelle, Melissa and Ian of Garden Grove, CA; and sister-in-law, Sandra Wray of Homeland, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Garcia and mother, Marye C. Garcia. Mr. Garcia graduated from Rio Grande High and attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. He was in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, stationed aboard the U.S.S. Talgua. He operated Central New Mexico Equipment Company with his father for 20 years. Some of his greatest joys were boating at Elephant Butte with family and friends, bird hunting with his oldest son, Ron, and watching his youngest son, Rex, play basketball at El Dorado and Scottsdale Community College. Muffy was his four-legged "sweetheart" and Rocky was his four-legged "hunting companion." Our hearts are broken and lives forever changed. We will miss his sense of humor, knowledge of world affairs and his political opinions, which he gave freely and often. The family sincerely thanks all of their wonderful neighbors and friends for the food, notes and cards of heartfelt sympathy and love and also Presbyterian Hospice, always there at this most difficult time, particularly his hospice nurse, Laurie Vicenti and caregiver, Gene Garcia. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Ron's life will be held at the family home, Saturday, November 13, 2004, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For directions, please call 220-9079. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice, 8100 Constitution Place NE, Suite 120, Albuquerque, NM, 87110. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
