ROEPKE -- Myron D. Roepke passed away on November 6, 2004. Born in Milwaukee, WI, in 1916, he was a veteran of the Second World War. After the war, he gained an engineering degree from Iowa State University and was hired by Sandia National Labs before being recalled into the Army for the Korean conflict. Separated as a Major from the Army in 1956, he was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission. Having lived and worked around the world, he resided frequently in New Mexico and in 1959 returned as an employee of the Department of Energy until his retirement in 1979. After retirement, he remained active in the church and aided senior citizens with tax preparation and financial planning. He leant many hours of his time to youth groups, and will be remembered by the hundreds of young men and women to whom he taught gun safety and coached to many state and regional marksmanship championships. He will be dearly missed by all his family and by co-workers and friends. He is survived by Vi, his wife of sixty-two years whom he met in the Lake Park Lutheran Church choir in Milwaukee; by his three sons, Craig, Kurt, and Karl; his daughter-in-law, Janice; his grandchildren, Tati and husband Rob, Kelly and husband Alexander, Kiel, and Tara; and his great-grandchildren, Ryan, Aaron, and Rebecca. Services will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church Thursday, November 11, at 3:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the St. Luke's choir fund or to the Boys and Girls Ranches.
