MCKINNEY -- Oliver James McKinney Sr, age 94, passed away quietly in his sleep on Friday, September 17, 2004 at the home of his son, Samuel, after a short illness and hospitalization this summer. Home hospice services were provided by the Vista Care Hospice program. His wife preceded him in death two years ago following 66+ years of marriage. Oliver, an only child, is survived by his nine remaining children: Oscar (Bertha), Charles Sr. (Jaquelyn) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Oliver Jr. (Bonnie) and Lucy Parlor of Atlanta, GA, John (Gloria), Elizabeth, Samuel (Brenda) of Albuquerque, Daniel (deceased), Lavinia Young (Thomas/Chico) of Wichita Falls, TX and Jerome of Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers-in-law Warrick Hill (Christine), Willis Hill (Joyce) and one sister-in-law, S. Margaret Hill of Silver Spring, MD; 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous close friends, community workers and church members of Bethesda Seventh-day Adventist Church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Bethesda Church (1800 Arno St SE) 87102 and the interment will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Gardens, 924 Menaul Blvd NE. Mr. McKinney can be viewed at Sunrise Funeral Options (Home) 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE (505-821-0010) on Saturday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Bethesda Church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Bethesda Church to the attention of Sunshine Fund.
