MASCARENAS -- Ernestine Mascarenas de la familia Manzanares was received by the Lord on Friday, September 17, 2004. She was born in Tierra Amarilla, Rio Arriba County in La Puente, NM. She was educated at Highlands University and El Rito Normal where she taught school. She worked for Governor John Miles at the State Land Office where she met and married Ernest D. Mascarenas. She lived in Santa Fe, NM, El Paso, TX, and was a resident of Albuquerque since 1960. She served in the community as a member of the Democratic Women's Association and as a faithful servant of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in the following church organizations: Altar Society, Catholic Daughters and the Lady Knights of Columbus. She was loved by all of her fellow workers and the communities where she lived, worshipped and served. She is survived by a large Mascarenas and Manzanares family. Her husband of 58 years, Ernest D. Mascarenas; son, David Mascarenas and wife, Marilyn; daughters, Evelyn Goodman and husband, Arthur, Grace Montoya and husband, Carlos, all of Albuquerque and Becky Mehringer of Linden, CA; grandchildren, Seth Goodman, Sara Conover, Rachel and Christine Montoya, Carrie Sanborn, and Eric and Jake Mehringer; and great-grandchildren, Emma, Chloe and Zachary Goodman and Hanna Conover; and sisters, Clorinda DeLeon, Regina Poetzl, and Stella Goins. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tina Sanborn; and brother, Toby Manzanares. Rosary will be recited Sunday, September 19, 2004, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 20, 2004, 9:00 a.m., at The Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
