MCGILL -- George J. (Mac) McGill passed away suddenly Monday, September 13, 2004 at age 85 after suffering from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases for several years. Most recently of Albuquerque, NM and originally from Brooklyn, NY, Mac was an avid competitive swimmer who performed with Johnny Weismuller in a water-revue in the 1939 World's Fair. He served in the armed forces for 6 years, and was in the Army Air Corps during the Second World War. He later became an insurance agent in the Tulsa area, and was also a haberdasher with Clarks Clothiers. He was able to compete in the Tulsa Senior Olympics as a swimmer before illness forced him to relocate. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann Mazzarella McGill, and many nieces and nephews. He is greatly loved and mourned, and will be sorely missed. A small, private memorial will be held in the Albuquerque area. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Share Your Care Adult Day Services' Bear Canyon facility at 4645 Pitt. St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111; or the Jewish Family Services Foundation at 5520 Wyoming NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
