LONG -- Martha Lee (Miller) Long was born March 24, 1921 in Alamogordo, NM and grew to adulthood at Mayhill, NM. She passed away September 15, 2004. She is survived by Richard Adam (R.A.) her loving husband of 65 years. She is also survived by five children, to whom she was a devoted mother: Richard Adam, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Grand Junction, CO; Virginia Hutson and her husband David of Lufkin, TX; Joe and his wife, Gloria of Belen, NM; Olive Balla and her husband, Victor of Los Lunas, NM; and Ernest and his wife, Karla of Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. She was grandmother of thirteen and great-grandmother of fifteen. She has two living brothers, Clarence Miller of Twin Falls, ID; and Richard Miller of Bloomfield, NM; as well as one sister, Mildred Stone of La Luz, NM. Education was especially important to Martha Lee. She was a retired public school teacher, having taught elementary school in Roswell and Gallup, NM, for 25 years. She also taught Sunday School at the various Baptist churches where R.A. pastored throughout her lifetime. She played the piano and encouraged her children to do so as well. Some of her favorite times were those when family gathered around the piano and sang old hymns. She was a proud contributor to the New Mexico Boy's and Girl's Ranches, and the well being of the boys and girls meant a great deal to her. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Los Chavez, NM, where R.A. is Pastor Emeritus. Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Los Chavez with visitation at 9:30 a.m. and funeral services following at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2004. Graveside services will take place at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, NM. Martha Lee's grandsons will be her pallbearers.
