PFEFFERLE -- Keith T. Pfefferle, 78 and a resident of Los Chavez, passed away after a sudden illness on September 11, 2004. Keith was born in Yankton, SD in March of 1926. He worked for the United States Forest Service and came to the Arizona, New Mexico area in 1951. Some of his positions with the Forest Service included Assistant Ranger in the Apache National Forest, District Ranger in the Tonto National Forest in Young, AZ, District Ranger in the Santa Fe National Forest at Jemez Springs, NM. He worked in the headquarters office of the Sitgreaves National Forest in Holbrook, AZ and the Southwest Regional Office in Albuquerque before being appointed as Supervisor of the Kaibab National Forest and then Supervisor of the Cibola National Forest in 1971 where he later retired. He was an active member of the Valencia County Amateur Radio Association (N5ZGM) and his passion was fishing. He loved to spend time at the Butte running his trout line. He is preceded in death by his son, Gale. Keith is survived by his wife, Nadine; daughter, Judy; sons, Ward and Seth; granddaughters, Lisa, Karen, and Krista; daughters-in-law, Jeni and Cathy. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Romero Funeral Home Chapel Friday, September 17, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St. Belen.
