MCGOVERN -- Norbert McGovern, 79, a resident of Los Lunas, NM for two years, passed away at sunrise on September 12, 2004. Bert was an avid follower of politics and was very active in the Democratic Party. He ran for the U. S. Senate in 1972 at the same time that George McGovern was running for President. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Bert will be remembered for his love of politics, dancing, and poetry. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marjorie; two daughters, Mary Garcia and husband, Andy, of Los Lunas and Kimberly McGovern of Hawaii; two sisters, Marcia Rotello and Loretta McDermott; four granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14, at Chapel of Sunrise, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16 at Oasis Family Church, 4800 Lomas NE.
