MORRISON -- Donald Ross Morrison, 82, died Sunday, September 5, 2004, at University Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia K. Morrison; children, Mary Elisabeth (Betsy) Morrison of Albuquerque, John and his wife, Joanna Morrison of Henderson, NV, and Patricia Ann Morrison of Sonora, CA; grandchildren, Frog and his wife, Dawn Rainbowstar of Manitou Springs, CO, Elizabeth and her husband, Billy Wirth, Nicholas and Andrew Morrison of Henderson, NV, Jacob Dixon of Sonora, CA and Rachel and Joseph Dixon of San Diego, CA; great-grandson, Shean Patrick Rainbowstar of Manitou Springs, CO; brother, and sister-in-law, Allan and Eunice Morrison, sister-in-law, Martha Morrison of Fresno, CA, and brother, and sister-in-law, Roderick and Jean Morrison of Idaho Falls, ID. Mr. Morrison was preceded in death by his parents, Christine and Emery; and his brother, John Morrison. Don was born May 3, 1922, in Tacoma, WA, grew up in Big Creek, CA, and served as a naval officer in the South Pacific during World War II. He taught mathematics at the University of Wisconsin and Tulane University before moving to Albuquerque in 1955 to work at Sandia Laboratory. He joined the faculty of the Department of Mathematics at the University of New Mexico in 1971, retiring in 1989 as Professor Emeritus of Mathematics and Computer Science. He was a lifelong Democrat. In accordance with Don's wish, there will not be a memorial service. Friends are invited to visit with his family on Saturday, September 11, between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., at the Martineztown House of Neighborly Service, 808 Edith Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, 333 East 38th Street, New York, NY 10016.
