VERGARA -- Mercedes Sanchez Vergara, 1918 -2004, age 86, went to meet her Maker on July 4, 2004. While living in Belen, Mercedes was very active in Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She retired from the Belen Consolidated Schools after 42 years of dedicated service. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Mario Vergara; her parents, Adelaida and Maximilano Sanchez; two brothers, Melquiadez, and Eulojio Sanchez; two sisters, Julianita Sanchez and Romanita Baca. Mercedes is survived by her sister -in-law, Stella Sanchez from Jarales; and many loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 beginning with a viewing at 6:00 p.m. followed with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 9:00am. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Robert Sanchez, Max Castillo, Max Baca, Charles Sanchez, Joey Chavez, and Alfonso Sanchez. Romero Funeral Home 609 N.
