MCCLOSKEY -- Donald McCloskey, 91, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, July 4, 2004. He is survived by his son, Steve McCloskey of Lincoln, NE; daughters, Lois Gallmeyer of Albuquerque, and Mariel Reynolds of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, John Gallmeyer of Albuquerque and Bill Gallmeyer and wife Somerset of Columbus MS.; great-grandchildren, Tracy Marie, Christian Blake, David Arthur and Hunter Evan; brother, Maurice McCloskey of Los Alamos; and sister, Eloise DeGeer and husband Stan of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his daughter Laurie Lou in 1942; wife Florence in June 1996 and brother Palmer McCloskey; sisters, Elizabeth Bartley and Christena McFatridge. Don was born on July 22, 1912 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Cully D. and Eunice McCloskey. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1933 with a BS degree in Architecture. He married Florence Tefft in 1939. He received his orders as a Second Lt. In the U.S. Army in 1941 and he served during WWII in Washington D.C., The Philippines and Australia as a Topographic Engineer and was a Major at the time of his separation. In 1946 he returned to Indianapolis where he worked and eventually became owner of Midwest Heating Company until his retirement in 1979. In October 1979 he and Florence moved to Santa Fe New Mexico. They resided there until moving to Albuquerque in 1982 to spend more time with their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. He loved remodeling homes, and gardening. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel on Thursday, July 8, at 11:30 a.m.with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
