GOMEZ -- Rose Gomez, 74, a resident of Tome, passed away peacefully at her home on June 17, 2004. At the time of her death she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on the 2nd of March, 1930 in Adelino, New Mexico. Rose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome. She was kind, compassionate, caring and giving towards others. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, farming and ranching, but what she enjoyed most was being surrounded by her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, Eliseo Gomez. She is survived by her sons, Edward Gomez, M.D., and wife, Beth of El Paso, Texas; Larry Gomez and wife, Dora of Adelino; Patrick Gomez, M.D., and wife, Marbie of El Paso, Texas; and Phillip Gomez of El Paso, Texas; daughter, Becky Baca of Los Alamos, New Mexico; grandchildren Lacy Houdek and Patrick Gomez, Adam and Thomas Gomez, Nicole, Antonio, Jessica, and Michael Gomez, and John and Miquela Baca; great-grandchildren Katie, McKenzie and Connor Houdek, and numerous sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins. All services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome beginning with a viewing on Sunday, June 20 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. A final viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21, followed by the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. with Father Jose Hernandez officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Patrick, Jeff, Adam, Thomas, Antonio, Michael, and John. Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews Jay Chavez, Ray Chavez, Santos Aragon, Mario Chavez, JR Padilla, Chuck Ashbrook, Patrick Chavez, Elias Barela, Juan Chavez, and Richard Mendoza.
