WEBER -- Robert C. Weber "Bob" was born on May 2, 1922 in Ft. Bayard, New Mexico to William Lloyd Weber and Elizabeth Irene Rice. Bob died on May 26, 2004 in Albuquerque after a long battle with Cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers William L. Weber Jr. of Preston, Idaho, and John Weber of Rexburg, Idaho and his sisters Alice Tochterman of Bellevue, Washington and Mary Edith Sullivan of Albuquerque and his wife of 23 years Fredericka Juhasz, and his second partner of 19 years Ruby Byers. His survivors include his sister Ruth Helen Simms (brother-in-law Charles) of Albuquerque and sister-in-law Sara Weber and family of Rexburg, Idaho and sister-in-law Ruth Weber and family of Groton, Connecticut, sister-in-law Gail Schleifer of Albuquerque and sister-in-law Carol Wehrs of Houston. His surviving children are his daughter Robin Chall (and son-in-law Robert), sons Matthew Weber, Michael Weber (and daughter-in-law Kathy), Robert Weber Jr. and his step-daughter Kimberly Byers (and Mike Callenberger). His cherished grandchildren include Cindy Silva (and her husband Ben), Chris Chall (and his wife, Stephanie), Charles, Melissa and Paul Weber, Rachel Sanchez, Steven, Vincent, Chris and Sandi Spiak. He is also survived by his precious great-granddaughter Jessica Chall and his newest great-grandson Zachary Chall, who was born the day before he died. He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces including Tom Simms of Taos, Steve Simms (and his wife, Gail), John Simms (and his wife Alice), and Mary Ellen Slemp (and her husband Larry) of Albuquerque and Mark Montgomery of Bakersfield, Joan Montgomery of Los Angeles, Kathy Pattinos (and her husband Matt) of Houston. Bob grew up in Tularosa, New Mexico and attended Tularosa High School and was a member of the local Presbyterian Church. He claimed Jesus Christ as his Savior prior to attending college at New Mexico State University. He majored in History and English and maintained a strong interest in those subjects his entire life. He loved to watch the History Channel and the Discovery Channel. He was an athletic person and participated in football in high school and college and shared that love with his sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed playing basketball with his sons and nephews. Bob served his country with pride during World War II enlisting in the U.S. Army along with his childhood friends; even though he had been in ROTC in High School and College. He served as a rifle platoon leader of the 1st Platoon, F Company, 290th Infantry Regiment of the 75th Infantry Division. During the majority of his combat service, 1st Lieutenant Weber served as the Company Commander in France and Germany. He was decorated with the Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. His war experiences were always near at heart and he often thought of his comrade. He worked as a sales manager at Albuquerque Linoleum and Carpet Company and All of State Carpet for a total of 54 years. Among his co-workers were close friends Gene and Vonnie Brasher, Charlie and Charlesy Chavez. Services will be conducted by Pastor Dan Schuman from Calvary Chapel on Tuesday June 1, 2004 at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Sunrise. We commit him into the hands of God, the heavenly Father. The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Mitchell Binder and the staff at the Lovelace Oncology Department for their kind and compassionate care.
