SANTIAGO -- JR. Pastor Jesus "Soup" Santiago Jr., 53, lost his battle against cancer and slipped into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, May 25, 2004. He was born on January 22, 1951. A life long resident of Albuquerque, Soup is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years and best friend, Felisita. He is also survived by daughters, Jessica Lucero and Joanna "Pretty" Santiago; and one son, Jesus III. Soup also leaves behind two beautiful granddaughters, Erika Lucero and Andrea Lucero who were the apples of his eye. He leaves behind three brothers; one sister; numerous nieces and nephews; and his church family at Adonai Fellowship where he served as one of the Pastors. Soup will be greatly missed by his family and by those who had the privilege of knowing him as "Pastor". Soup will be remembered for his faithfulness to his family and to his Savior, Jesus Christ; for his joy and laughter; for the genuine love he showed to others; for his servant's heart and the desire to help anyone in need; for his boldness in sharing the uncompromised Word of God and for being a kid at heart! Services for Pastor Soup will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 417 Palomas Drive SE. A viewing with service to follow will begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2004. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29, 2004, with burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pastor Ken Goode, Pastor David James and Pastor Jose Lopez will be officiating. Instead of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Jesus Santiago Jr., to Adonai Fellowship, 3121 La Junta SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105.
