Private Graveside - 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, May, 18, 2004, Woodbine Cemetery. Mrs. Terry, 89, died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at La Villa Care Center in Roswell, New Mexico. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services. Honorary Pallbearers will be: All care givers of the Rose Garden at La Villa. Visitation: Terpening & Son Mortuary - 10:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. May 17, 2004. Mrs. Terry was born September 5, 1914 in Dexter, New Mexico; the daughter of Roger Henry Durand and Olive (Harshey) Durand. On Oct. 12, 1947 she was married to J.J. (Judal) Terry in Artesia, NM. She was a Lifelong Area Resident. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1982. She served in the Waves during WW II. She was a Homemaker - also Secretary for Guy Chevrolet - She and her husband farmed in the Cottonwood Area for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, served as church Treasurer for several years, PEO Chapter 3, and Bridge Club . Memorial Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church - PD Box 1492 - Artesia, NM 88211. Survivors include Sister-in-Law: Tommie Terry Burnett and husband Clyde of Roswell, NM Numerous Nieces and Nephews including: William 3. Gray and wife LaNette of Artesia, NM Cousins: Abbie Pearson Jeter and husband Glen of Albuquerque, NM Earlene Durand Smith of Dexter, NM Joe Davis Durand and wife Martha of Dexter, NM Eileen Druand of Albuquerque, NM Clarence Harshey and wife Judy of Hagerman, NM Lloyd Harshey and wife Adeline of Alamogordo, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents; Roger Henry and Olive Harshey Durand, an aunt, Frances Harshey Pearson, and cousins, Raymond Pearson and Richard Harshey Abbie will be remembered by her loved ones for her vibrant laugh and appreciation of the beauty around her. services are under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
