OTERO -- Lorenzo F. Otero, 73, a resident of Albuquerque, NM and formerly of the Los Lunas area, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2004. He was a teacher and counselor in the Los Lunas Schools for 39 years. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's College where he received both his BA and MA degrees. He was a Korean War veteran. He was also a member of the University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus Advisory Board from 1987 to 1993. He was a former member of the Tierra del Sol Golf Club and Country Club for many years and the Paradise Hills Golf Club in later years. He was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Lorenzo passed away while doing what he loved most, playing golf. He was an avid sports fan. He was a good husband and played a great part in his children's lives. Because of his long career as a teacher, he taught more than one generation of many families in the Los Lunas School District. Lorenzo is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lillian; his son, Loren of Albuquerque; and his daughter, Lynn Audrey Otero. He is also survived by his sisters, Socorro and her husband, Bernie Vallejos of Albuquerque; and Marie Chewiwi of Isleta; his brother-in-laws, Eugene Jaramillo of El Cerro, NM; Vivian Jaramillo and wife, Judy of Mesa, AZ; Benny Jaramillo and his wife, Bernadette of El Cerro; Fred Jaramillo and his wife, Alma of El Cerro; and his sister-in-laws, Sylvia Jaramillo of El Cerro; and Mela Otero of Los Lunas. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Lorenzo is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Francisquita Otero Y. Orona; his brothers, Clovis, Manuel and Tony Otero; his sister, Adela Martinez; his sister-in-laws, Tillie and Viola Otero; and his brother-in-laws, Jose Martinez and Joe Chewiwi. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta beginning with a viewing at 6:30 p.m. on Monday April 19, 2004 to be followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2004.
