DARGUE -- Elaine Dargue, 76, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at her residence with family members by her side. She is survived by her sons, Gary Horton and wife, Ellen of Phoenix, AZ; Bruce Horton and wife, Evy of Los Gatos, CA; Scot Horton and wife, Ann of Lone Tree, CO; Craig Horton and wife, Karen of Danville, CA; grandchildren Steven, Lyndsy, Jennifer and Nicole. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Clara Green of Abilene, Texas and her husband of 8 years, Donald Dargue Lt.Col. (Ret) USAF. Born Norma Elaine Green on March 31, 1928 in Ballinger, TX, she grew up in central Texas and attended the University of Texas. Married in 1947 to Lt. William G. Horton USN, she raised her sons at bases in Virginia, Florida, New Mexico, and Germany. She loved to travel, visiting Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and Canada. When not traveling she was active in the Santa Fe Opera Guild. Elaine had the gift of making such close and dear friends wherever she went. She was a gentle and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by all those who were blessed to know her. Mrs. Dargue's family wishes to thank the Lovelace Medical Center Dialysis Unit, Manzano del Sol Good Samaritan Village and all the nurses and staff who helped with her care over these past months. As per her wishes, a funeral service is not scheduled. Sometimes children can be so blessed to be born to a mother so wonderful, so beautiful, and so kind, that it takes them to adulthood to realize what a special mother she was. She taught us to walk, to talk, to respect others and to believe in ourselves. We have such warm and sweet memories that she gave us and left us with. We will always cherish those. We know that her sun has set here on earth and she is in Heaven where she shines brightly at God's side. Her family and friends are so fortunate to have her warmth that continues to linger on.
