BACA -- Johnnie S. Baca, Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, son of the late Leondro and Margarita Baca, was welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord Jesus Christ after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 6, 2004. Johnnie was born in Silver City, NM on Wednesday, July 31, 1940. He was a resident of Paradise Hills for 40 years. Johnnie was employed as a Transport Driver for Valley Gold and Borden Dairies for 30 years. Among his many talents and hobbies, he loved deer hunting and the study of New Mexican history including his own genealogy. Johnnie also loved horseback riding with his son-in-law in Texas. Johnnie had an extraordinary talent and passion for hand tooled leather crafts. As a father and grandfather, he took great pride and joy in supporting his children and grandchildren in their sporting events, as well as being their biggest fan in every aspect of their lives. Johnnie will be waiting in Heaven for the love of his life, his devoted wife of 46 years, MaryAnn. Johnnie will be deeply missed by his 5 children, Joann Snyder and husband, Gregg, Johnnie Baca and wife, Juanita, Sandra Baca, Frank Baca and wife, Tracy, and Bernadette Philipbar and husband, Glenn of Paradise, TX. Johnnie's legacy will continue through his 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Rosary will be recited Friday, April 9, 2004, 6:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, April 10, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Johnny Herrera, Glenn Philipbar, Stephen Snyder, David Philipbar, Frankie Baca, Dominick Moyer and Marcus Baca. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Whelan, Max Alvarez, Donald Luna, E. Edam Romero, Lee Baca, Glenn Philipbar and Ralph Gallegos. Due to Holy Week, the Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 12, 2004 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise NW, 87114. The family wishes to thank our family and friends for all the prayers and support, with special thanks to Dr. David Robbins and his nurse, Maurene, Urology at Lovelace Hospital.
