MCCANN -- Charles James (Chuck) McCann, born May 25, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan, died of myelodyplastic syndrome in VA Hospice, Albuquerque on March 29, 2004. Chuck was preceded in death by his father, George McCann and his mother, Hermina Picot. He served his country for five years in the U.S. Army, and was active with The Citizens'Police Academy, Neighborhood Watch, and the Neighborhood Association. He and his business partner, Matthew Valerio-Hirschfeld, owners of Can Do LLC were nominated by their neighbors and recognized as "Citizen Heroes" in 2003 for pro bono service to elderly homeowners. Chuck found great joy and peace in his spiritual life with his renewed commitment to Christian service as a member of Christchurch, 516 Juan Tabo SE. He requested no formal memorial service be held, however gifts may be given in his memory to Christchurch, P.O.Box 50998 87181-0998 or VA Cancer Treatment.
