KROPP -- Marie Kropp, age 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, and of Ft. Collins for the last nine months, died February 25, 2004. On Monday, March 1, 2004 a Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is to be held at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona St. SE, with interment in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Alice Marie Dornback was born August 23, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John LaRocque and Gertrude Ward Dornback. She married Arthur John Kropp on March 8, 1941 in Northwood, Iowa. During her husband's military career, they lived all over the world, always returning to their home in Albuquerque. She moved permanently to Ft. Collins a little over a year ago due to declining health. Marie was a devout Catholic and a very proper lady, much like her mother. She enjoyed entertaining, traveling, shopping, making crafts, and sewing; and she loved beautiful things. She once remarked that she "never found a store where she couldn't buy something" and has a large collection of Santa Clauses to show for it. Marie was a "tough lady", who used "DragonLady" as her e-mail address, but the one attribute that will live on forever is that of a very loving and warm mother, grandmother and friend. Marie's husband (Lt. Col. U.S. Army, Ret.) Arthur J. Kropp died about two years ago. She is survived by two sons, and their wives, Arthur J. Kropp Jr. (and Eve) of Albuquerque and Stephen (and Deborah) Kropp of Ft. Collins; six grandchildren, Lee Kropp, Jacquolyn Kropp, Melanie Colbert, Shana Snider, Michael Hamsing and Jorie Gniotczynski; six great-grandchildren, Michael, Rebecca and Nicole Kropp, Justin Young, Corrianne Hamsing and John Arthur Hamsing; and her constant companion, Hobbs, the Bulldog.
