SANCHEZ -- Filemon (Felix) Agustin Sanchez, 75, died early on the morning of Tuesday, February 10, 2004. Felix was born in Belen, New Mexico, on March 3, 1928, to Soledad Rubi de Sanchez and Seferino Sanchez, who predeceased him. He was a graduate of Belen High School and New Mexico State University and worked as a laboratory technologist for all of his professional life. A sister, Frances, an infant, and a brother, Seferino Ruben, preceded him death. He is survived by his wife Mary B. Sanchez to whom he was married for 48 years, three sons, Charles (married to Juanita), Mark (and partner Keith Manes), and Shawn, and three daughters, Renee (married to Robert Baca), Valerie (married to Marty Otero), and Michelle (married to Keith Riney). He had seven grandchildren, Christy, Justine, Ben, Enrique, Leah, Isaiah, Zachary, and Paige. His living siblings include Lupe Fergeson, Mary (and husband Harold) Hutchings, Annie (and husband Pressie) Garcia, Lorraine (and husband Michael) Shiplet, and Daniel (and wife Lydia) Sanchez. He had numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbors. He is survived by a paternal aunt, Mercedes Vergara. Felix was a veteran of the Korean conflict and resided in Belen almost all of his life. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Keith Manes, Frank Garcia, Christopher Sanchez, Isaiah Otero, Enrique Baca, and Ruben Chavez. Honorary pallbearers are Eva Glidewell, Luis Torres, Glen Oliver, Barney Carbajal, Avilio Trujillo, Ozzie Baca, and all of his golf buddies. The rosary, to be led by his niece Lilly Baca, will be recited on Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, 101 North Tenth Street in Belen, to be preceded by visitation and viewing beginning at 6:30 p.m. Father Mark Honhart will preside over a funeral Mass at Our Lady of Belen at noon on Thursday, February 12, 2004, which will be followed by burial at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
