DE VRIES -- Ronald C. De Vries, 67, a resident of Albuquerque since 1967, died Sunday, February 8, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joanna De Vries of Albuquerque; mother, Hilda De Vries of Schaumburg, IL; daughter, Renee Roeder and husband, Timothy of Prescott Valley, AZ; sons, Michael De Vries and wife, Amber of Stilwell, KS and Kevin De Vries and wife, Pattie Jo of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Michala De Vries and Sierra De Vries; and grandsons, Ryan De Vries and Ian De Vries. Mr. De Vries was born in Chicago, IL on December 4, 1936. He was the only child of Hilda De Vries and the late Joseph De Vries. Ron received his BS degree from Northwestern University and his MS and Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, all in Electrical Engineering. He had been a professor in the EE/CE Department of UNM for 31 years. In 1996, he instituted the first for-credit internet course at UNM in Computer Logic Design. Ron was involved with Indian Guides and Trailblazers and was active in the Deacons and Session at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Andrew Church, 5301 Ponderosa Avenue NE.
