GRIEGO -- Vivian Griego, age 96, of Santa Fe, died on Sunday, December 7, 2003. She was preceded in death by his parents: Estevan and Dolores Griego, brothers Frank, Lalo and Pino; sisters: Jessie Salazar; brother-in-law, Charlie Madrid, sisters-in-law: Dela, Bertha and Vita Griego. Vivian was born May 31,1907. She attended Loretto Academy, and owned and operated Griego's Grocery Store on College street (Old Santa Fe Trial) for over 60 years, the store was established in 1935. She was a member of the 3rd Order of St. Francis, Altar Society, Union Protectiva, Legion of Mary, Confradia de la Conquistadora as well as a strong Republican. She is survived by her sisters: Annie Madrid, Pauly Bustamante, and companion and caregiver Clorinda Nava; brother, Tito Griego; special nieces and nephews who helped as caregivers: Therese Martinez, Ralph Nava, Yolanda Arrey, and Ed Nava. Special thanks to the Hospice Center for their help and support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Santa Fe Hospice Center, 1400 Chama Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Gallegos, Herman Griego, Betty Ann Madrid, Ivan Madrid, Ray Martinez and Rose Nava. Honorary pallbearers will be all her nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 10, 2003, 3:00 p.m., where a rosary will be recited by Union Protectiva and the 3rd Order of St. Francis, 4:00 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. A family rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11, 2003, 10:00 a.m. at St, Francis Cathedral. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, 984-8600.
