HARMON -- Edward L. Harmon, very best friend and husband of Rose, passed away November 23, 2003. Ed was born in Clearfield, IA on November 11, 1936. With the exception of four years, Ed and Rose made New Mexico their home since 1968. In addition to Rose, Ed is survived by two sons, James Edward and wife, Rebekah Harmon of Rock Rapids, IA and Joseph Edward of Roswell, NM. He is also survived by his brother, William and wife, Martha of Las Vegas, NV; and two sisters, Phyllis Lass and husband, Gene of Ogden, IA and Irene Bauman and husband, Gary of Des Moines, IA, many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Vaughn and Esther Harmon of Urbandale, IA. Ed served four years in the US Navy as a radar operator with Patrol Squadron 23 in Brunswick, ME. He worked in the technology industry on computers. He lived and worked in Tulle, Greenland, Nenana, Alaska, and also Minneapolis, Seattle and Albuquerque. Most recently, Ed worked as a Field Engineer with Sun Microsystems Inc. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and hiking but most of all just enjoyed being home in the mountains. In addition to being a trusted friend, Ed was an admirable person and a beautiful human being, an exemplary father who quietly met his family's need while gently filling their world with love. His passing will leave an eternal hole in the fabric of our lives. A public memorial and celebration of life for Ed was held on Saturday, December 6, 2003, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel.
