DROEGE -- Raymond J. Droege, age 94, passed away November 2, 2003. Raymond was born in August 1, 1909 in Meppen, Illinois. He was preceded in death by Herman and Elizabeth Droege (Mom and Pop); brothers, Lawrence, Herman Jr., and Kenneth; sisters, Verena and Mary Herman. He is survived by three brothers, John, Hubert, and Anthony, who all reside in Illinois; two sisters, Lorraine Bimslager of Golden Eagle, Illinois and Rosalie Purvis and husband, Don of Albuquerque. Raymond's New Mexico family includes niece, Susie Purvis; and great-nephews, Trevor and Gavin. He also has a nephew, Pat Purvis and family of Denver; along with numerous nieces and nephews throughout the Midwest. Raymond was a World War II Veteran having served in the South Pacific. He visited New Mexico for the first time when he was 70, and he fell in love with the Southwest. He moved to Albuquerque and called it his "home" for 24 years. He was a strong member of his church community and enjoyed many hobbies, which included gardening, reading, baseball, and clipping coupons. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors.
