WELLS -- Jack Wells, age 75, of San Antonio, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2003. He was an organist and choirmaster with the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He studied organ in London and Europe and played the organ that Bach played in 1400 in Germany. Upon retirement, he became the Allen organ dealer for New Mexico. After retiring from Allen, he went to Lewisville, TX and then San Antonio, were he ran the Allen dealership for 7 years. During his time with Allen, Jack was responsible for the installation of the organ in both Porter Loring locations. He was a 50-year member of the American Guild of Organists where he received 50-year service recognition. Jack was talented in woodworking and liked especially making wind toys. His parents, Merritt Arthur Wells and Helen Smith Wells; and his grandson, Christopher Wells, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Mary Wells of San Antonio; children, Paul Wells of Las Vegas; Shirley Stubbs and husband Brad of Morrison, CO; and Fred Wells of California; step-son, Timothy Logan and wife Sarah of Dallas; step-daughter, Karen Winther and husband David of Albuquerque, NM; and grandchildren, Erin Shull, Crystal Wells, Zachery Stubbs, Payton Logan, Sydney Logan, Max Winther and Amanda Winther. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Society, P.O. Box 291048, San Antonio, TX 78299-1048.
