STRICKLAND -- Alvie M. Strickland, 83, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, September 11, 2003. He is survived by his daughter, Luana Fox and husband, Dale of Albuquerque; son, Larry Strickland of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Mike, Mark, Jill, Ginger, Clint, Lucy, Tim, Carrie, Brenda and Jeff; great-grandchildren, Jaeden, Raillee, Jacob, Isaac, Hans, Hannah, Brian, Kristy, Mollie, Chris, Jason, Jonathan, Ashley, and Heather; sisters, Oletha Sanders, Marie Phillips and Nita Colson; brother-in-law, Bill Wright and wife, Mahala; sister-in-law, Olene Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise W. Strickland in 1999. Mr. Strickland was a longtime resident of Lubbock, TX, moving to Albuquerque five years ago. He met his wife of 59 years in Earth, TX where they were married. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific with the 184th Infantry Regiment. Mr. Strickland was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Khiva Shrine Temple, and a longtime member of St. Luke Methodist Church in Lubbock. During the past four years of Alvie's life, he resided at Carestone where he carried on his lifelong mission of bringing smiles and pleasure to everyone he met. The family would like to thank Carestone for the tender loving care they provided to Alvie and also, the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the V.A. Hospital. Services were held Saturday, September 13, 2003, at 2:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Covenant Church Building Fund, 7201 Paseo Del Norte NE, Albuquerque, 87113. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE 823-9400
