MARTINEZ -- Mr. Pablo S. Martinez, 92, passed away in his home, in peace on September 12, 2003 with his loving family by his side. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his parents, Trinidad and Aurelia Martinez; 12 brothers and sisters; a daughter, Fina Martinez and a grandson, David. Mr. Martinez is survived by his loving and caring grand daughter, Margaret Gabaldon and husband, Lawrence Chavez and her children, Frankie Paul, Beraldo, Julianna, Angelo and Adriano; his daughters, Dolores Baca, Pauline Chavez and husband Fred, Genie Leyba and husband, Jimmy; a son, Fred Martinez; 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Mr. Martinez was a life long resident of Martinez Town. His great grandfather was the founder of Martinez Town. Mr. Martinez was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in the 136th infantry from Feb. 21, 1942 until July 1, 1945. He fought in the Pacific and came home with three bronze stars. Mr. Martinez enjoyed life to the fullest. He enjoyed gambling, drinking and smoking cigarettes. He loved his family dearly. A gathering will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with visitation after 1:30 p.m. A final visitation will be Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith NE with a Funeral Service to be held at 9:30 a.m. by Mr. Robert Clary. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m with Military Honors by the D.A.V. Chapter #3. Pallbearers will be, Lawrence Chavez, Lawrence Lopez, Lawrence Lopez Jr., Jimmy Leyba Jr. and Sammy Martinez Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be, Jimmy Leyba and Ray Baca.
