CALHOUN -- Aaron Calhoun passed from this life on Tuesday, September 8, 2003, he was born August 13, 1950 in Natchitoches, LA. He was the oldest of eight children and accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age. For more than three decades, Aaron enjoyed the freedom and adventure of the road by pursuing trucking as a career. Most recently, he was employed at the Wm. Thomas Trucking Company where he had many colleagues who were as dear as family to him. Aaron consistently demonstrated a profound love for his family. He was a kind and very compassionate man who was deeply devoted to his wife of 22 years, his parents, and extended family members as well. Aaron was a great provider and father. He was known for his quiet demeanor and strength. Aaron's father, Manuel Calhoun, preceded him in death. Aaron leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Portia Calhoun; his mother, Rosa Lee Calhoun; Seven brothers and sisters, Cleola (Otis) Mitchell, Emily Calhoun, Janice Calhoun, Paul (Georgia) Calhoun, Albert (Gwen) Calhoun, Elijah Calhoun, and Charles (Juanita) Calhoun; seven children, VoTasha Calhoun, Lisa Marie Sidney, David Sidney, Phillip Parnell, Christopher Mock, Chase Steen, and Carmen West; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, extended family and dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held at New Hope Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1901 Pennsylvania NE., on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Bishop David C. Cooper will officiate.
