Metarelis -- George Stephen Metarelis,"The Chief" was born November 1, 1942 in Roswell, NM and passed away on September 16, 1998 in Dallas, TX. George was a graduate of NMMI and NM Highlands University. He was an officer of the law for over 25 years in New Mexico and Texas. He served as the first Chief of Police of Flower Mound, Texas. He is survived by his two sons, Steve and John of Dallas; his grandson, Alex of Houston; his brother, Demosthenes of Albuquerque; and his former wife, Martha Ellen of Dallas. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the New Mexico Military Institute Chapel, 101 West College, Roswell, NM on October 2, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to NMMI Alumni Assoc in Memory of George Metarelis, 101 West College, Roswell, NM 88201-9957.
