Steel -- Geneva F. Steel passed away on June 12, 1998, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center. She was born August 5, 1918 in Rutland, North Dakota. She received her Nurse's training at st. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota and served honorably in the Army Nurse Corps, Fortieth General Hospital. She was stationed in France and England from 1943 to 1945. She served in the European Theater during World War II, accompanying the fighting troops when they landed on Utah Beach during D-Day. She was married to Major Byron Steel, USAF, who preceded her in death on October 13, 1953. She is survived by her children, Thomas and Susan. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Byron, Austin and Sharanne Bruner, wife of Brett Bruner. Memorial services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 16, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
