Skau -- Walter F. Skau, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away on June 11 at a local hospital. He was 80. Mr. Skau was born on November 17, 1917 to Neil I. and Frances Skau in Illinois. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha of the family home; two daughters, Karen and Tom McMahan of Munster, IN, Peggy and Wayne Shipman of Carrollton, TX; four sons, Michael Skau of Omaha, NE, Kenneth and Kathleen Skau of Cincinnati, OH, Gerald and Eileen Skau of Ann Arbor, MI, Philip and Janet Skau of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Berg of IN. He served with the 5th Armored Army in WWII. He was employed with the REA Express Co. as a Traffic Manager before retirement. He belonged to the AARP Chapter 663, Knight of Columbus #6696, American Legion Post 118 and the West Mesa Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans Post 5. Visitation will be held at Rio Rancho Funeral Home Sunday, June 14, 1998 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Monday, June 15, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. with interment following at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Floral arrangements may be made by calling 891-9192.
