Saavedra -- Mr. Efren C. Saavedra, 75, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 29, 1999. Mr. Saavedra was the beloved husband of 53 years to Mrs. Rosella Anaya-Saavedra. He is also survived by five sons, Ruben Saavedra, Efren Saavedra Jr., Richard Saavedra, Paul Saavedra, and Anthony Saavedra and wife, Jennifer; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Saavedra; two sisters, Erna Muniz and husband, Jacinto and Carmen Chavez and husband, Ruben; a brother, Isaac Saavedra; a very special niece, Becky Carrillo; 12 grandchildren, Ruben Jr., Robbie, Richie, Samantha, Clyde, Brittny, Chloe, Savannah, Mackie, Ashley, Cassie and Nickel; five great-grandchildren, Justine, Shyann, Gus, Audrey and Elias; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcelino and Elena Saavedra; a son, Sammy Saavedra; brother, Robert Saavedra; and a sister, Braulia Contreras. Mr. Saavedra was a member of the Catholic Church, veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, a member of the American Veterans Post #7, owner of Efren and Sons Sand and Gravel, past board member of Westland Development Corporation. Efren dedicated his life to his beautiful wife and children. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with visitation after 6:30 p.m. Gabriella Nieto, reciting. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with visitation at the church after 9:30 a.m. Father Larry, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ruben Saavedra Jr., Robbie Saavedra, Clyde Saavedra, Richie Saavedra, Ruben Chavez and Jacinto Muniz. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements.
