Newby -- Martha R. Newby, 91, a resident of the Albuquerque area since 1951, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. She is survived by her grandson, Bob Ferguson and wife, Carolyn of Los Lunas; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Newby came from a large family in which she was one of 23 children. Numerous brothers and sisters still survive including her sister, Eva Tipton of Morongo Valley, CA. Mrs. Newby was preceded in death by her husband, E.A. Newby in 1983; and by her daughter, Hazel Francis; stepson, Roy Newby; and stepdaughter, Helen Newberry, all in 1987. Mrs. Newby was employed at Sandia National Laboratories for 15 years. Graveside services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Pastor Tom Nagy officiating. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
