Padilla -- Mr. Carmel Padilla Sr., 78, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 19, 1999. Mr. Padilla is survived by one son, Carmel Padilla Jr. and wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Sarah Serna and husband, Richard and Rosemary P. Valdez; one sister, Pauline Chavez and husband, David; two brothers, Epifanio Padilla Jr. and wife, Annette (Blondie) and Alonso Padilla and wife, Geneva; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a special friend, Connie Sanchez; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel B. Padilla; daughter, Domie Luna; grandson, Elmer H. Marquez; his son-in-law, Ruben R. Valdez; and his sister, Timi Lucero. He was a member of the Catholic Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army and serving during World War II and American Legion Post 49. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW. Final visitation will be Monday morning, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, 412 Stover SW, Father James Moore, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Padilla, Richard Serna Jr., Richard Sanchez, Jennifer Marquez, Michele Marquez and Angela Serna. Gabaldon Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
