Angel -- Anna Mary Angel, 89, of Dover, went peacefully to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 18, 1999. Born January 7, 1910 in York Twp. (Oldtown Valley), Tuscarawas Co. She was the daughter of the late Harry Logan and Emma Laura Kinsey Fackler. Mrs. Angel graduated from New Philadelphia High School, and a 1930 graduate of Canton Actual Business College. She joined the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Tuscarawas (Oldtown Valley), in 1912, and served as its organist for 67 years. Mrs. Angel was a long-time member of Union Grange, New Philadelphia, and was active as its pianist. She and her husband won many first place awards for planning the best displays at the county fairs and for flower arranging. Mrs. Angel was an active member of the Tuscarawas Co. Homemakers, serving as secretary-treasurer and two terms as president. In 1950 she was named"Homemaker of the Year". She was also active in Garden Club, serving all of its offices. She taught many local young people the joy of learning to play the piano and organ. Other musical activities included the Fortnightly Music Club, where she served as President; playing piano and organ solos, and accompanied many local soloists. She was happy to have been able to travel to France, Austria and Switzerland with her daughter to play historic organs. With a lifetime of organ playing, this poem dedicated to the organist seems appropriate: The Organist I wonder how the organist can do so many things. She's getting ready long before the choir stands up and sings, She's pressing buttons, pushing stops, pulling here and there, And testing all the many parts while listening to the prayer. She plays it with her fingers, and plays it with her toes. And if she really wanted to, she'd play it with her nose. She's sliding up and down the bench, she's working with her knees, She's dancing round with both her feet as lively as you please. I always like to take a seat where I can see her go, She's better than a sermon, and it does me good, I know I like the life and movement and I like to hear her play, She's the most exciting thing in town on the Sabbath Day. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Angel Rice and husband, Jim of Albuquerque; a son, Larry Jon Angel and wife, Kathleen of Los Gatos, CA; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leonard Leroy Angel who died in 1988. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, September 23, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kenneth Hacker officiating. There will be a Reception immediately following the Service in the Church. There will be a Committal Service, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Visitation will be Wednesday, (today) September 22, 1999 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 336, Tuscarawas, Ohio 44682.
