Mcmillan -- Gordon McMillan, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, September 9, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Olivia McMillan of the family home. He was preceded in death by his son, Trevor, an Albuquerque attorney. Gordon was the son of Neil McMillan, a British Columbia mining man. They both knew and worked the rugged mining regions of British Columbia and Queen Charlotte's Islands. He graduated from the UBC in 1941 with a degree in Mining Engineering. His career covered copper mining with Britannia Mining and Smelting, Howe Sound Co. of British Columbia, Canada, Chief Consolidated of Eureka, UT, United Park City Mines of Utah, both Base metal mines, before joining Homestake Mine Co., Uranium Division in Grants as uranium was opening up. He worked there from 1957 until retirement in 1979. Gordon was a member of a number of professional and civic organizations including Kiwanis for many years and Society of Mining Engineers. He was member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church. Services will be held Monday, September 13, 1990, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Grants Memorial Park in Grants, NM. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Monday, 9:30 a.m. until service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to NMSU Scholarship Fund, Grants Branch, Grants, New Mexico.
