Major -- 1914-1999 Leslie C. Major, 84, a resident of Placitas, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 1999. Leslie was a resident of Placitas for the past 25 years and was secretary of the Board of the Ranchos De Placitas Sanitation Department for 20 years. She was a member of the Garden Club and also served as secretary for the Placitas Artist Series. She had a great love for gardening and for life. Mr. Major was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Colonel Stanley T. Major; her brother, Thomas A. Carruth; and a sister, Julia Rae Lord. She is survived by three sisters, Mary Sartor, Nancy Day, and June Robbins; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on June 12, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jane Harms officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Las Placitas Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden Fund, in memory of Leslie Major.
