Crandall -- Ivan Ray Crandall, 67, SMG US Army Ret., son of Clair and Nora Crandall, went to join his Heavenly Family on the 20th of January, 1999. He was born February 8, 1931 at home in Bitely, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ethelyn Wright, Irene Booher, Ruth Cowley; and his devoted wife of 33 years, Shirley Ann Crandall; and his son, Mitchell Ray Crandall. He is survived by his four sisters, Mary Ellen Clarkson, Gladys Tinkam, Eleanor Rose, all of Michigan, Arvilla Kuck of Phoenix, AZ. He is survived by his three daughters, Geraldine Ann Crandall of Phoenix and her partner, Steve Lucero, Lynn Ann Pincumbe and son-in-law, William Pincumbe of Albuquerque, and Iva Rae Crandall and son-in-law, James Crandall of New Jersey. He was a wonderful grandfather of Dana Rae Lopez, Danny Lopez Jr., Janna Chenault, Michelle Pincumbe, Jimmy Crandall, Kevin Crandall and John Crandall. He was also a wonderful great-grandfather of Brittany Lopez and Gabriel Chavez. He served his country with honor during the Berlin crisis, Korean war and two tours in Vietnam. Ivan retired in 1972 from Sandia Army Base in Albuquerque. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the NRA, Chapter of MENSA, Menzia, and was active in the 3rd squadron of the 4th Cavalry Chapter and the 25th Infantry Division Association reunions. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nation's Service Medal, Nat'l Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, RVNCM. Special thanks to the Lovelace Oncology staff, Dr. Binder, Tarnowner and Weiler, Chemo nurses, and fourth floor south nursing staff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vietnam Veteran's Association. A funeral service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, with Rev. Fred Gurule of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Rev. 21: 6&7---And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
