Turner -- Ben T. Turner Jr. passed away Friday, March 26, 1999. Ben was born in Greer, South Carolina on June 11, 1928. His family moved to Albuquerque permanently in 1940. After graduation in 1946, where he had been a track star, setting new records, he attended UNM for two years. Upon leaving UNM he worked in the office supply business for six years before serving in the U.S. Army. The rest of Ben's working years were in sales and procurement, and the food and grocery industries. He retired in 1987. Ben is survived by his loving wife, Juana; one daughter, Melanie Berg of Lubbock, TX; and one sister, Allie Franklin of Phoenix, AZ. A Memorial service will be held Friday, April 2, 2:00 p.m., at Crestview Baptist Church, 301 Chama NE. If you prefer, in lieu of flowers or plants, you may make a contribution in Ben's name to the American Heart Association. Arrangements were made by Sunrise Society.
