Smith -- William (Bill) D. Smith, 75, of Las Cruces, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999. He was born on March 4, 1924 in Manassa, Colorado to Dryden A. Smith and Ione Keel. Bill was a veteran of the US Marines, serving his country during WWII and had been a self-employed business man most of his life. Bill is survived by his wife, Anne Scottie Petrie Smith of the family home; sons, Rodney C. Smith of Mesa, AZ, Billy G. Smith and wife, LaWanda, and Richard A. Smith, all of Albuquerque; daughters, Amy Buchanan of El Paso, TX, Debra Rice and husband, Danny, Rhonda Paroz, and Heather Starr and husband, John, all of Albuquerque; brother, Thomas D. Smith and wife, Pat of Ramona, CA; sisters, Colleen Foreman of Albuquerque, and Peggy Donasin and husband, Al of New Port Beach, CA; also by ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 3, 1999, at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m., Monday, December 6, 1999, at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with a Marine Honorguard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 345 N.
