Custer -- Marjorie Duff Custer, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, has been reunited with her cherished husband, George Custer. Marjorie was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska, on May 20, 1910 and was the daughter of Edwin and Gertrude Musser Duff of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Muscatine, Iowa. She attended Brownell-Talbot School in Omaha, Emma Willard School in Troy, NY, and Andrebrook School in Jerrytown, NY. During these years, she was an Ak-Sar-Ben Princess and traveled throughout the world. She married George, her husband of 56 years, in Taos, NM, in 1931 and they lived in Las Vegas, NM. In the early 40's, the Custers moved to Albuquerque and became in intergal part of the Albuquerque community for the next 60 years. Marjorie had a vision of life that had a sense of adventure, discovery, humor, and a love for the beauty of nature. She loved the Jemez Mountains and along with her husband, built a summer home where she and her family spent summers. Marjorie was an avid equestrian, Girl Scout leader, and was an independent woman. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star and various social, garden, golf, and educational groups. Marjorie devoted her life to her family, community, and friends. She gave of herself and contributed to many selflessly without seeking recognition. She influenced our lives with her unconditional love and support and her family and those she touched will miss her greatly. She is survived by her two adoring sons, Robert and Philip, their wives, Mollie and Krys, and three loving grandchildren, Sasha of Prague, Czech Republic, Erin of San Francisco, CA, and Nicole of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her dedicated caregivers, Tsering Lhamo and Norbu Tsering. A private funeral service was held shortly after her death. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given in her name to Save Tibet, 1825 K Street NW, Suite 520, Washington, DC 20006 or a philanthropy of your choice.
