Perez -- Orlando Joseph Perez, 65, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, was called home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 5, 2000. Mr. Perez was born in Torreon, NM on March 20, 1935 to the late Emiterio and Federcia Perez; he was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Orlando was employed with Herrera Coaches for the past 28 years. He loved his family and enjoying playing golf. He is survived by his loving wife, Rafaelita Perez of the family home; his children, Jeanette Sanchez and husband, Antonio and Joseph Orlando Perez and wife, Anita Lynn of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Annette Jessica, Stephanie Elizabeth, Michael Anthony and Matthew Dominic Sanchez, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are one brother, Phillip Perez; three sisters, Adela Garcia, Phyllis Chavez and Viola Perez; his nephew and nieces, Anthony Perez, Mary Ellen Perez, Dorothy Gutierrez, Charley Chavez, Nelli, Patty, Tina, Richard Jr., Betty, Sandra and Margaret; sister-in-law, Ida Perez; many grandnieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Joseph's Hospital ICU department; as well as the staff of the PACE Program, Senior Care and the Dialysis Unit on the ground floor; to Fr. Chris, Fr. James and Chaplains of St. Joseph's Hospital. Your kindness will always be remembered. Visitations will be today, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening, 7:00 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE. Final viewing will be Friday morning, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated also in Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Charlie Chavez, Michael Sanchez, Steve Herrera, Michael Herrera, Miramon Sanchez and Cecil James Gabaldon. Honorary bearers will be Matthew Sanchez, Phillip Perez and Mario Padilla. Funeral services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW.
