Mackel -- Mary Frances Mackel, age 87, died in Santa Fe on Tuesday, May 2, 2000, following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis C. and Eliza Mackel; brothers, Louis C. Mackel, Paul A. Mackel; nephew, Louis Mackel; and niece, Marsha Mackel. She received her Kappa Kappa Gamma from the University of New Mexico. She then became a teacher at the Manzano Day School. She later became a caseworker for the State of New Mexico Health and Social Services. Mary Frances is survived by her sisters-in-law, Adelina Mackel, Romie Mackel; nephews, Don Mackel and his wife, Sharon, Paul Mackel, Lawrence Mackel and his wife, Cindy; nieces, Linda Mackel, Elizabeth Pontecorvo and her husband, Joe, Kathy Sandoval, Paula Thomason and her husband, George, Roberta Mackel, Mary Westfall and her husband, Robert, Martha Andazola and her husband, Ron; and many great-nieces and nephews. As a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, she had many dear friends. She was a loving aunt. Her sense of humor and style will always be remembered. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Manny Mandel, RN and the staff at Ponce de Leon, and to Judy Henry, RN (Sandia Hospice). A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Rosario Chapel.
