Hammond -- Constance L. Hammond passed away suddenly Saturday, April 29, 2000. Mrs. Hammond, originally from Pittsburg, PA, was an active member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, and did volunteer work for both the New Mexico Jazz Workshop and UNM Popejoy Hall. She is survived by her husband, Frank Hammond; daughter, Debra Brown and step-daughter, Matlena Hammond; step-son, Gerald Hammond, all of Albuquerque; grandsons, Bryon Thomas Nash, Lt. Andre Lee Brown of Pittsburg; granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Nash; great-grandsons, Thomas A. Nash, Xavier Lee Brown; brother, Hershel Phillips; and a sister, Tondaleyo Phillips. Viewing and wake will be held 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, from Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, at Fellowship Missionary Church, 515 Ash SE. Interment will follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. She will surely be missed by the many friends and family in Pittsburgh, Balitmore, and Albuquerque. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, are in charge of arrangements.
