Grove -- Lois Effie Foree Grove, 81, of Boulder, Colorado, formerly of Silver City, Albuquerque, and Raton, NM, passed away April 28, 2000 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Boulder, Colorado. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 5, 7:00 p.m., at Bright Funeral Home, 210 W. College Avenue, Silver, City, New Mexico. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Christ, 1920 Little Walnut Road in Silver City, NM. Floyd Robertson will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Lane Cemetery in Silver City, NM. Lois Grove was born on Thanksgiving Day-November 28, 1918 in Raton, New Mexico. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Loyd and Lillie Foree who homesteaded in the Kiowa, New Mexico area in the early years of the last century. Lois married Ray William Grove September 8, 1937 in Raton. Lois is survived by seven children, two sons, Walter Grove and wife, Connie of Las Vegas, NV and Foree Grove and wife, Dana of College Station, TX; and five daughters, Raylene Walker and husband, Gil of Madison, WS, Louville MacDougall and husband, Allan Sr. of Louisville, CO, Viva Leona Kemp and husband, Richard of Albuquerque, Ruby Musser and Mike of Gallup, NM, and Lynell Tutor and husband, Tim of Abilene, TX. Mrs. Grove is also survived by one sister, Ruth Gray of Abilene, TX; and a brother-in-law, Jack Buhr of Arvada, CO. Lois Grove had 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Grove was preceded in death by both of her parents; a sister, Rachel Mae Buhr of Arvada, CO; and one grandson, James Charles Walker. Mrs. Grove was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She was a very active member of the Church of Christ all her life. Lois was an excellent seamstress and making quilts was her favorite hobby. She also was a great cook, preparing delicious dinners many years for countless family and friends. Lois was well known as an excellent cake baker and decorator in her home, making special cakes for all occasions, including weddings. She was also an Avon lady in Silver City for 20 years. Lois spent her early childhood on the family ranch near Kiowa, New Mexico, which was southeast of Raton. She graduated from Kiowa High School in 1937 and in her later years took classes at Western New Mexico University in Silver City. Lois was an astute, kind person and everyone loved her. Lois and Ray lived in Silver City from 1970 until 1997 when Ray died and Lois left to live with her youngest daughter, Lynell in Las Cruces, when Lynell and family moved from Las Cruces, Lois went to Boulder, Colorado to be near other family in the area. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the mission work of the Church of Christ, P.O. Box 169, in Silver City, New Mexico 88062; and to the Good Samaritan Care Center, 2525 Taft Drive, Boulder, Colorado 80302. Funeral arrangements are with Bright Funeral Home of Silver City.
