Tinsley -- Ellen L. (Schranz) Tinsley March 4, 1911 - February 9, 2000The youngest of three sisters and three brothers, Ellen was born in Victor, Colorado. Raised in Denver and graduated from Colorado State Teachers College in Greeley. Her first teaching assignment was in Clayton, NM, where she met her husband, F. Eugene Tinsley. They married in 1934, a union that brought forth two children and lasted until his untimely death in 1970. In 1943, the family moved to Los Alamos, where she was one of the first teachers in this bastily built wartime laboratory town. When the laboratory activities wound down, the family moved to Albuquerque, where she was a substitute teacher for the next several years. She lived in Albuquerque 47 years. She was a member of the Rose Society, Delta Kappa Gamma, (Honorary Teachers Sorority) and the Central Methodist Church. She is survived by her two children, Ronald Gene and Shirley Jo (Farnham) both living in the Seattle, Washington area; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held in the main sanctuary of the Central Methodist Church, Saturday, February 20 at 10:30 a.m. Reception will follow. Memorial may be sent to the American Heart Association or the Central Methodist Church.
